Adapted from the autobiographical novel by German World War II photographer Lothar-Guenther Buchheim, Das Boot chronicles the experiences of a daring U-Boat captain (Jurgen Prochnow) and his green crew as they navigate the waters of the Atlantic and Mediterranean in pursuit of Allied ships, alternating between being the hunter and the hunted.
