After being newly appointed as sheriff, Pat Garrett is delighted to see his old pal Doc Holliday arriving in Lincoln, New Mexico by stagecoach. Doc is on the trail of his stolen horse, which is found in the hands of Billy the Kid. Unexpectedly, Billy and Doc strike up a friendship, leading to a rift in the relationship between Doc and Pat. The peculiar bond between Doc and Billy takes a more bizarre turn when Doc shelters the wounded Billy at his girlfriend Rio’s home.
